Biography

Dr Watson completed his Medical Oncology training in Queensland, after obtaining Fellowship in General Medicine from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).

He provides and advocates for comprehensive care for patients with cancer in the Toowoomba region, serving as the Clinical Director of Medical Oncology at Toowoomba Base Hospital since 2024.

Dr Watson is an independent Medical Oncologist, currently treating all solid organ cancers with a special interest in breast and rare cancers. He is active in education and training, supervising junior doctors and is a member of local and state training committees.

He is the principal investigator of multiple clinical trials at Toowoomba Base Hospital and understands the difficulty patients face accessing trials in rural and regional areas of Queensland.

Dr Watson originally trained in Melbourne before completing his Advanced Training in Northern Territory and Queensland, and now lives with his wife and young children on a small rural property, firmly committed to the region.

Dr Watson will be joining the team at Toowoomba Oncology located at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Toowoomba.
