Biography

Dr Binita Shrestha is a physician specialising in Rehabilitation Medicine.

Originally from Kathmandu in Nepal, Dr Binita Shrestha travelled to Australia in 2008. She completed her rehabilitation training throughout Queensland at various hospitals - including John Flynn Hospital, Prince Charles Hospital, Mater Private Hospital, Ipswich Hospital, Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Townsville Hospital as well as at St. Vincent’s Private hospital, Toowoomba - before settling in Toowoomba with her young family.

Dr Shrestha is committed to providing high quality, evidence-based practice in the diagnosis and assessment of an individual’s function associated with illness and chronic conditions or injury, in order to improve and maintain their quality of life, while maximising independence. Dr Shrestha utilizes a collective approach when evaluating social, emotional, recreational and medical aspects of her patients. This includes providing counselling and support to her patients and their carers, in order to achieve a patient-centred individualised treatment plan.

Dr Shrestha also coordinates and leads a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation service to the patients of St Michael's Ward at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Toowoomba.

Dr Binita Shrestha delivers specialised rehabilitation services to adult and geriatric rehabilitation for neurological disorders including stroke, spinal injury, brain injury, spasticity and multiple sclerosis; musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions including fractures, joint replacements, arthritis and osteoporosis; acute and chronic pain; amputations; cardiorespiratory disorders and other complex or chronic conditions.

Dr Shrestha is offering outpatient spasticity management of upper and lower limbs, following stroke or traumatic brain injury. This therapy will be provided using ultrasound and EMG guided technology to deliver accurate intramuscular injections of botulinum toxin.
