Biography

Dr Joel Collins is a Toowoomba-based haematologist who recognises that his patients would rather avoid extensive travel and so he provides high quality local care to the community.

While he treats a range of conditions, Dr Collins has particular interest in leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma, as well as other non-malignant haematology conditions.

After receiving his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Joel began his medical training as a rural doctor, gaining valuable experience in rural medicine by working in Ipswich Hospital for 2 years. Deciding that his passion lay in haematology, he ultimately completed his advanced training in Brisbane, during which time he held the position of Chief Medical Registrar at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Outside of his private practice, Joel is also a keen academic. He has published a number of articles and is presently undertaking research into multiple myeloma.

Better and fairer care. Always.

In a rapidly transforming world, St Vincent's has created a refreshed vision and strategy to help shape Australia's health and aged care future.
