Biography

Dr Ricardo Deveza is a consultant cardiologist and heart transplant/heart failure specialist. He has experience in the management of a wide array of cardiac issues, with a particular interest in the management of heart failure and cardiomyopathies.

In addition to his appointment at St Vincent’s Private Hospital and St Vincent’s Clinic, Dr Deveza is a staff specialist with the Heart Transplant unit at St Vincent’s Public Hospital. 

Dr Deveza graduated with an MD degree from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and completed cardiology training in one of the largest cardiac centres in Latin America, Sao Paulo’s Heart Institute. He then completed a fellowship in heart failure and heart transplantation at St Vincent’s Hospital, followed by further specialty training in cardiology through St Vincent’s Hospital. He is currently finalising a PhD in mechanical circulatory support through the University of New South Wales and the Victor Chang Institute. 
Dr Deveza has significant experience and expertise in the management of rare and challenging cardiomyopathies, such as cardiac sarcoid, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and cardiac amyloid. 

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Deveza is actively involved in teaching and research. He has published in high impact international journals and presented his work at national and international conferences.
