Biography
Dr Sam Chia is a highly trained orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip and knee reconstruction. He is dedicated to providing personalised and accessible care.
Dr Sam Chia is highly qualified in reconstructive surgery, in particular robotic hip and knee replacement surgery. Priding himself on providing empathetic and individualised care, Sam is committed to making a positive difference to patients’ lives.After he completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney in 1999, Sam was awarded the Sidney B Clipsham Memorial Prize in operative surgery. After his residency at The Prince of Wales Hospital, he was then selected onto the Sydney Southside training scheme of the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He gained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2008 and then completed three postgraduate fellowships in hip and knee reconstruction. These were administered by Arthritis Australia, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Peninsula Orthopaedic Research Institute (PORI).
Sam is committed to maintaining and developing his knowledge at the highest levels and is certified to perform robotic hip and knee surgery. Keenly interested in research and education, he has multiple publications in major orthopaedic journals and is a current director of PORI. Sam has an appointment as a clinical lecturer at the University of Sydney.
