Biography

Dr Shiraev is a specialist vascular & endovascular surgeon, who consults with patients at the Vascular Associates Camperdown, and admits patients at the Mater Hospital.

Dr Shiraev completed a Bachelor of Science before undertaking his Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery, during which he developed his interest in vascular surgery. He undertook specialty vascular surgical training at several units across Australia, including St George Hospital, Canberra Hospital, Liverpool Hospital, Royal North Shore and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals. Dr Shiraev was awarded his Fellowship in Vascular Surgery by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, before undertaking a fellowship at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in order to further specialise in open and endovascular thoracoabdominal surgery, especially in the setting of aortopathies.
 
Dr Shiraev has a special interest in research, with over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference presentations, and one book. He is currently enrolled in a PhD at The University of Sydney examining the phenotypes and outcomes of genetic aortopathies.
