Biography

Douglas is a Victorian-trained orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty expertise in hip, knee, and trauma surgery. He treats a wide range of hip and knee conditions, with a strong focus on both joint preservation and joint replacement procedures.

With advanced training in knee preservation techniques including ACL reconstruction, patella stabilisation, meniscal repair, cartilage restoration, and knee realignment, Douglas also has extensive experience in robotic-assisted partial and total knee replacement, as well as direct anterior approach (DAA) hip replacement.

Douglas holds a public appointment at Box Hill Hospital (Eastern Health), where he is actively involved in emergency orthopaedic care and the training of orthopaedic registrars.

His approach is centred on clear communication, shared decision-making, and evidence-based care — with the goal of restoring function, reducing pain, and helping patients return to their quality of life.
