Biography
Anne MacGibbon has been delivering babies at the Mater Hospital for over 20 years. She is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and also holds a Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound. She is a senior visiting consultant at RNSH and has worked there for many years in the High-Risk Obstetric Unit. She continues to supervise medical students and junior medical staff training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Her specialist training was at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for 6 years where she was clinical superintendent and did advanced training in laparoscopic surgery and complex pelvic surgery. She has special interests in high-risk obstetrics, multiple pregnancy, and medical disorders in pregnancy. She is a past chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at NSPH and served on the Patient Care Review and Medical Advisory committees there.Her obstetric focus is collaborative and empowering for women, offering choice and the experience and skills to assist as necessary. She is welcoming of women who choose elective Caesarean but has a consistently lower intervention rate in supporting physiological birth.
